will make this into an actual bio at some point. maybe.

- born to a teen mom and her inappropriately older boyfriend who weren't anywhere near ready for children
- dad was in and out of jail several times for fraud, assult, and robbery
- mother's drinking and drug habits grew increasingly worse each time father was arrested
- mother had an issue holding down a job and was fired from several restaurants and shops in neighboring towns
- mother was basically the town bicycle, seemed to have a new boyfriend every other week, even though she was married, because she needed someone to leech off of
- every time father was let out of jail, mother would go running back to him, leaving whatever asshole she was with at the time in the dust
- mom, dad and the rando boyfriends all tended to abuse frankie and leave her alone for extended periods of time
- began working small, local jobs (mowing lawns, taking out trash/bussing tables/washing dishes at diners, helping with farm work, etc) at only ten years old in order to bring in money to feed herself.
- was taught to sew and then given an old sewing machine by an elderly woman she did house chores for when she was 11, and took to mending/altering and eventually making her own clothes, because it was less expensive than buying them.
- tended to hide her earnings in random places so the adults in her life couldn't find it, but they often did, and stole it, leaving meaningless i.o.u.s in it's wake. she began leaving her earnings in an abandoned old barn in town, where no one would think to look for it.
- was sexually assaulted more than once by rando boyfriends in her preteen years
- finally began fighting back in her teens, often managing to get away and would hide out sometimes for days at a time in random locations around town
- at sixteen, she'd finally had enough and beat the snot out of her mother's "friend" who got a little too close for comfort
- that time, she didn't come back. she bought a bus ticket out of town. her mother never seemed to take notice, or at least, didn't care.
- spent the next several years travelling from one place to the next, never staying for more than a few months at a time, and always with a different name.
- did what she needed to get by during this time, (worked odd jobs [waitressing, bartending, store clerking, janitor, door to door sales, singing and playing guitar on the street, etc], conning people, stealing when necessary, even selling herself on occasion.)
- during this time, she lived mostly out of weekly rate hotel rooms and the beat up pick up truck she'd been given as payment for one of her jobs
- moved to austin, tx when she was 20, worked as a bartender and found a band to sing in, and fell in ~*love*~ eventually even got married and settled down. this was the first time in six years that she told anyone her real name, and eventually started going by "frankie", in an attempt to leave her old life behind.
- band managed moderate success and even dropped a couple of albums and did a nationwide tour more than once. kept bartending in her free time as a way to save money
- lived in austin for nearly ten years, until she and her husband realized they'd largely grown apart (for various reasons) and decided to part ways amicably. they're still good friends
- kept her married name as a way to further distance herself from her shitty parents
- at 29, she packed up her things in a u-haul (that was a first) and moved to boston to start fresh
- her band days are behind her, but she still works (probably too much) as a bartender, and makes enough money that she's able to live comfortably on her own.
Basic Information
Melissa Gold was a troubled runaway from an alcoholic father and incarcerated mother. In order to survive on the streets, Melissa developed a hard edge to her personality, referring to herself as "Mimi." She eventually found work as a costumed professional wrestler, taking the stage name Screaming Mimi, and joined the wrestling team known as the Grapplers.

The Grapplers became renowned for their colorful personalities and ringside antics, but the wrestling federation denied them the opportunity to make the amount of money their male counterparts made. Thundra was pitted against the Grapplers including Screaming Mimi, all of whom Titania managed to defeat easily. The group agreed to earn supplementary income by performing a covert operation for the Roxxon Oil Company and were given special paraphernalia to assist them in their mission. The mission failed due to the hero Quasar, and the Grapplers were tried and jailed for their misdeeds.

Sent to Ryker's Island prison the Grapplers encountered and fought Dazzler, but were defeated when Songbird let loose her voice increasing Dazzler's powers. When the Grapplers were finally paroled, they discovered that the woman's wrestling movement had lost its momentum without them, so they continued to perform crimes to support themselves. When Ben Grimm is in Hospital the Grapplers are one of his many visitors. (...)
